So much faith has Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger placed in his young players that it is no surprise to see that two potential future Gunners stars were on target in their respective friendlies over the weekend.
On Saturday, whilst the first team were winning in Cologne thanks to a Gervinho brace, an Arsenal XI was sent to Stevenage and came away with a 1-0 win.
Highly-rated young striker Chuks Aneke (pictured) scored the only goal of the game with a curling finish into the far corner and Reice Charles-Cook was highly impressive in the Arsenal XI goal.
On Sunday, another young Arsenal striker also got on the score sheet. There has been much hype surrounding Wellington da Silva since he signed for the Gunners last January.
Due to work permit issues, da Silva was sent on loan to Levante where he struggled to make first team appearances at the back end of last season. And he will also spend the 2011/2012 campaign at the same club in Spain.
Wellington da Silva scored the first goal for Levante in a 6-2 victory over Lierse and the 18-year-old Arsenal striker produced a composed finish with a number of defenders on the line. His goal can be seen at the start of this video.
