Every now and again Lionel Messi comes up against a goalkeeper who has the game of their life in thwarting the goal-scoring Argentine.
Two that stand out of many are Vincent Enyeama for Nigeria v Argentina at the 2010 World Cup and Javi Varas who secured a late draw for Sevilla at the Nou Camp in October 2011.
On Tuesday night it was the turn of Fraser Forster who made some stunning stops and did not deserve to be on the losing side.
The Celtic custodian, just 24, came into his own during the second half with some of the finest saves seen anywhere this season confirming his place as one of the best English keepers around.
Forster was virtually the only Celtic player able to stop Barcelona as the Catalans piled on the pressure in the second 45 and his first world class save, from Messi inside the 6-yard box was a true highlight.
Seconds later Forster topped this with a flying stop to deny a close range Lionel Messi header – arguably an even better stop than his first.
Both Fraser Forster wonder saves can be seen below – with another in the middle from Alexis Sanchez. Epic work!
