Video Evidence: Why Milos Krasic would be an excellent addition for Manchester United

Alex Ferguson promised that Manchester United would come back bigger and stronger next year to finally wipe Liverpool “off their bloody perch” and beat their record of league titles.

If is to be believed he is looking to strengthen the midfield by acquiring CSKA Moscow’s 25-year-old midfielder Milos Krasic.

The Serbian began his career at Vojvodina where over the course of four seasons he made 77 appearances and scored seven goals. The glut of money in Russian football meant that clubs were looking to purchase the brightest Eastern European talent and the ability of Krasic led to his acquisition by CSKA.

His career in Russian football has been a great success. He has been an integral part of a team which has won the Russian Premier League title twice, the Russian Cup four times and the Russian Super Cup three times. In all he has scored 26 goals in 146 games for the Russian giants.

Although he has been played predominantly on the left hand side of midfield, he is able to play as a central midfielder and behind a target man.

He is not a player who holds to his position but looks to drop deep and pick up the ball tempting the fullback to track him in order to create space which he can attack.

The Serb is fast and possesses devastating acceleration enabling him to gain that crucial half a yard on midfielders and defenders. He is also well built and can take robust challenges making it difficult to knock him off the ball.

In addition to having all the tools necessary to scare the opposition by running at them, his passing ability and vision are excellent too. He can play the killer ball to his strikers when drifting into the centre of midfield and spread the play effectively.

If there is one criticism to be made of him it is that he lacks composure in front of goal and has a tendency to snatch at shots when he has more time than he realises.

Manchester United have been on the receiving end of his pace and vision as he impressed in both matches he played for CSKA Moscow against Manchester United in the Champions League, picking out through balls and scoring in the 3-3 draw at Old Trafford.

Krasic desires to ply his trade in the bigger leagues last year he spoke to Russian newspaper Sport Express stated: “I like United, they have such a high class defender in Nemanja Vidic.  But I also have great friends at Chelsea: Branislav Ivanovic and Yuri Zhirkov. So, I’m not “sick” for any particular team. But, simply, Premier League matches are good to watch. The game is quick, stadiums are full and it’s high quality.”

He has also been quoted in the Russian newspaper Novosti as saying: “I have been here for five years and I would like to try something new. Should an offer from a big club arrive, CSKA will let me leave.”

A bid of £16 million will be required to prise him away to Old Trafford. If Ferguson does get his man, Manchester United will get a player who is capable of making a difference in the biggest matches and whose best years are ahead of him.

He would be a welcome addition to the Manchester United squad.
