Gary Neville today has his second match in the Valencia dugout in his first game in La Liga.
The former Manchester United right-back watched his side lose 2-0 at home to Lyon last midweek in the Champions League, in a match in which Los Che were outclassed.
Valencia today have a tricky away test as they travel to Eibar.
Eibar are tenth in the table, while Valencia are ninth.
Ahead of the match, the Mirror are today reporting that before Gary Neville took the job in Spain, Valencia actually tried to get Ryan Giggs to become their manager instead. Giggs is Louis van Gaal’s right hand man at Old Trafford this season.
According to the tabloid, Valencia “sounded out” Giggs, but “word quickly came back from the Giggs camp that he’s happy to see out his term as Van Gaal’s assistant.”
After the defeat to Bournemouth, could Giggs be regretting that decision?
The Mirror’s story also casts a shadow over future discussions about who may replace Van Gaal when his days in Manchester are numbered.
Would Gary Neville be the number one choice? Or is Ryan Giggs the front runner?
