Real Madrid 2 – Hamburg 1 (Emirates Cup, August 2, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) Ruud van Nistelrooy tapped home a Michel Salgado cross for the opener, Mohamed Zidan equalised with a fantastic right footed shot that went in off the post but a late goal from Dani Parejo gave the La Liga champions the victory.
Rangers 0 – Liverpool 4 (Friendly, August 2, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) Fernando Torres grabbed the first from close range. (Fist half highlights here.) David Nâ€™gog scored the second with a fine run and shot from the former PSG striker. Yossi Benayoun scored the third at the back post just before the hour mark. Xabi Alonso scored the fourth from the penalty spot.
Stockport 2 – Manchester City 2 (Friendly, August 2, 2008) Anthony Pilkington (â€™65) put County ahead when he slotted the ball past Kasper Schmeichel from close range after neat build-up play before Valeri Bojinov headed in an equaliser (â€™77). Peter Thompson restored the hostsâ€™ lead (â€™86) but Ched Evans made no mistake from the spot after being fouled (â€™90).
Real Zaragoza 1 – Villareal 2 (Friendly, August 2, 2008)
Sporting Lisbon 1 – PSV 1 (Friendly, August 2, 2008) Simon Vukcevic gave Sporting the lead in the 18th minute, striking a sweet shot past Ramos from outside the box. Lisbon then has Silva sent off with seven minutes remaining, and PSV capitalised when Wuytens equalised three minutes from time.
Benfica 2 – PSG 2 (Friendly, August 2, 2008) PSG took a two goal advantage with a brace from Fabrice Pancrate, the first a lovely chipped finish and the second a simple tap-in. Makukula pulled a goal back with a spectacular strike which arrowed into the top corner, before Cardozo toe-poked the equaliser after the Parisians failed to handle a throw-in.

Zenit St. Petersburg 2 – FC Moscow 1 (Premier Liga, August 2, 2008) FC Moscow took the lead away at Zenit as Rebko scored with a free header from a corner. In the 51st minute Zenit equalised, Denisov turned home a cross with a scuffed shot. The hosts secured the win when Tekke bagged a 77th minute winner.

Dynamo Kiev 1 – Metalist Kharkiv 2 (Vyscha Liga, August 2, 2008) Metalist pulled out a shock win at Dynamo with goals from Valyaev and Koelyo. Ninkovic had earlier score a beauty to bring Kiev level on the stroke of half-time.

Houston Dynamo 2 – Columbus Crew 0 (MLS, August 2, 2008) Brad Davis put Houston ahead in the 13th minute with a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Brian Ching added the second, his eighth of the season, just before the break to extend the Dynamoâ€™s unbeaten streak to five games.
Chicago Fire 1 – Chivas USA 0 (MLS, August 2, 2008) Patrick Nyarko justified his first MLS start with an early goal on his debut.
DC United 2 – KC Wizards 0 (MLS, August 2, 2008) Luciano Emilio received a pass from Moreno in the 28th minute and, after switching the ball from his right foot, fired a shot with his left into the lower left corner. Moreno scored with a header in the 60th minute, beating goalie Kevin Hartman.
Fluminense 1 – Internacional 2 (Campeonato Brasileiro, August 2, 2008) Internacional got off to a quick start, Nilmar dribbled past Roger and placed the ball out of reach of the goalkeeper Henrique. Nilmar scored again in the 27th minute when he received the ball off a fast break, firing the ball into the back of the net to score the teamâ€™s second and last goal of the game. Flu pull a goal back when Somalia converted a free-kick.
