Trabzonspor continue dancing their way to the title

Last weekend we brought you footage of the Trabzonspor dance-off at Ankaraspor, and last night the Turkish outfit once again showed off their moves after jumping to top spot with their 2-1 win over Ankaragucu. This weekend, in front of their own fans at the Huseyin Avni Aker Stadium, the party was once again rocking.

One of the most notable aspects in the video is seeing how the entire home crowd stayed behind after the match to cheer on their team and create the atmosphere for the dancing stars to get their groove on. Viewers of the Premier League have become accustomed to seeing crowds leave matches early en masse, regardless of whether their team are winning or not.

The contrasts in footballing cultures seems massive. Obviously, taking top spot gave the Trabzonspor supporters a euphoric shot in the arm to stay in the ground and cheer on their boys, but many clubs will look on enviously as the fans and the players seem to be forging a mutual love-affair for the enjoyment off everyone.

The dance-off appears to be the club’s staple victory celebration.

At the full time whistle, all the players headed into the centre circle where the majority of the team sunk to one knee and began clapping, as if out of a scene from Turkish wedding. Taking their cue, rhythmic teammates Hrvoje Cale (number 3), Promise Isaac (number 14), Gustavo Colman (number 20), Alanzinho (in the white shirt) and Tayfun Cora (number 18) all began leading the celebrations by dancing in the centre of the circle.

The highlight of this week’s dancing came when things began heating up as Promise Issac and Ibrahim Yattara (bleached hair) decided to take the spotlight by having their own mini dance-off.
