Nabil Bentaleb was one of the high profile players to withdraw from Algeria’s international squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho on Sunday.

Bentaleb has had a mixed start to the new Premier League season. A poor display at Manchester United on the opening day saw the Algerian midfielder lose his place in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

But, Bentaleb was restored to the Tottenham starting XI against Everton on Saturday and performed well.

Certain reports online have suggested that Bentaleb was involved in a motorcycle accident last Sunday.

These rumours claimed that Bentaleb was brought to an emergency room in Lille on Sunday night, where he had to spend the night under obversation and had to have his left hand plastered.

Bentaleb’s angry Instagram post is below.

Translated, it reads: “What can I tell you??!! Stop your bull**** a little… I understand that you do not have much to say but do your work correctly!! And stop with your “according to a source on” 😒😒👋! The technical staff of Algeria is aware of a DOMESTIC little accident I had and the coach has been informed .. And by the way I have just a plaster and a nice cut finger.”

With Tottenham failing to bring in any midfield reinforcements late on in the transfer window, Bentaleb is key for Pochettino this season. Spurs’ next game is at Sunderland after the international break.
