If you bought clothes in a shop in Nantes back in 2005, there’s a chance that you might have been served by a young Dimitri Payet.
Then 18, Payet was on an amateur contract at Nantes at the time. The wages weren’t magnificent so he had to take a part-time second job, working in a clothes shop.
Even though Payet was prodigiously talented, he missed out on bigger opportunities due to a bad-boy reputation. One imagines working in retail may have brought him back down to earth.
Now he’s tearing up Premier League defences and scoring goals for a club that pays him scandalous wages. Never lose hope, lads.
