The Controversy: Were Bayern Munich’s 1st three goals v Barcelona all illegal?

Barring a miracle, Barcelona are out of the Champions League.

Bayern Munich’s 4-nil demolition of the Catalans giants caught most of world surprise, yet the post match analysis emerging from Iberia is centring not on the Germans’ efficiency and all-round superbness, but rather three illegal goals scored by the Bavarian powerhouse.

Bayern’s first three goals at the Allianz Arena are under the microscope.

As to Thomas Muller’s opener, wide-eyed Barca fans believe the goal should never have stood claiming that Dante climbed all over Dani Alves in the build-up to the German international’s backpost header.

Mario Gomez then doubled the German’s advantage with a goal scored from an offside position, while Arjen Robben’s third should also have been cancelled out after Muller’s pick-and-roll block on Jordi Alba in the Barca box.
