It’s past 11pm on the 31st of January: the January transfer window is now technically closed for business.
On a relatively anti-climactic day, the biggest proposed move of the day was/is Yevhen Konoplyanka’s move from Dnipro to Liverpool.
At around 10pm, it was reported that he was undergoing a medical, but with all sorts of legal wranglings going on in the background (he doesn’t yet have an EU Visa), the deal wasn’t signed before 11pm.
Now, let’s not be naive; that doesn’t mean the deal is off; football has ways of bending the red tape, so we’ll continue to watch this space – but for the moment, the deal looks off.
In the meantime, below are the best tweets in reaction to the news that Ian Ayre failed to get Konoplyanka’s signature before close of business.
Ian Ayre's one of 'em lads to give Konoplyanka a pen that don't work to sign at 10.59pm.

Brendan Rodgers pays £15m for Joe Allen, but sees paying £16m for Konoplyanka as too much. pic.twitter.com/QOxNYrEn9h
