Terry Venables leads Wrighty, ‘Arry Redknapp & The Sun in song for England (video)

The Sun have moved early in the race to become the UK’s paper for the World Cup by getting perma-tanned pundit Terry Venables to sing in a viral video.

Virtually draped in a St. George’s flag, The Sun laid out their intent behind the advert saying “the Three Lions have a terrific chance of winning the South Africa showpiece – and The Sun is right behind our boys. Our stonking new advert proves we’re No 1 for football coverage by showcasing the vocal talents of ex-national boss Tel.”

Crooner Venables actually does a decent job in belting out the lyrics, but it’s hard not to cringe when the camera pans to toothy Ian Wright and twitchy Harry Redknapp (could you imagine Ferguson or Wenger doing something like this?) in the choir. Also, the two stars above the England crest an the final line “please let my dream come true” are a little too cheesy. But it’s fun nevertheless.
