Tackling Bowel Cancer: England stars raise awareness

Bowel cancer killed England’s legendary 1966 World Cup winning captain Bobby Moore at the young age of 51. Today’s modern footballers are now trying to do something to help others in similar situations.

Backed by the FA, England stars Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick, Theo Walcott, David James, Micah Richards and Shaun Wright-Phillips have partnered with the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK to help raise awareness of the disease. Under the catchy slogan “There is Moore to Know,” the footballers aim to break down taboos surrounding the disease, helping make more people aware of the symptoms and how to best reduce their risk of bowel cancer.
