Sunday Supplement: “Manchester United will win the title” (Henry Winter) & “Manchester City have spent well” (Oliver Kay)

The first Sunday Supplement of the 2009/2010 season got straight to the chase and looked at who are the likely Premier League title winners. The Daily Telegraph’s Henry Winter can’t see past Manchester United for what would be their fourth consecutive title success. Oliver Kay chirps in and also backs the Red Devils to overcome the loss of Cristiano Ronaldo.

Moving across town the hacks turned to Middle Eastlands and looked ahead to what we can expect from Mark Hughes and Manchester City. Oliver Kay (The Times) claims the cash has been spent well on the likes of Barry, Tevez, Toure, Adebayor and Santa Cruz. Winter brings up the now familiar refrain that City need a leader at the back and then adds that money doesn’t guarantee success.

Finally, the cream of Fleet Street run the rule over Fabio Capello’s England squad for the friendly with Holland on Wednesday. Rob Beasley of the News of the World surprisingly suggests Fabio Capello has a “mental problem” with Michael Owen.
