After a brief resurgence that lasted all of over four games, Manchester United fans have turned back against Louis van Gaal and are once again calling for the Dutchman to be sacked. Perhaps the board should listen.
It’s been a disastrous season for the Red Devils and keeping Van Gaal seems counterproductive.
While we all want to see managers being given time, if employees are given objectives to meet upon signing a contract then they deserve to be sacked when it becomes apparent that these objectives won’t be met.
That’s what happened with Steve McClaren. He was sacked by Newcastle United earlier today and replaced by Rafa Benitez. There is evidence to suggest that United should follow the lead of the relegation-battling club.
Last night’s defeat at Liverpool in the Europa League means that United have lost NINE games since the start of December, the same amount as Newcastle. It’s simply not good enough for a club of their stature.
