AVB was spotted at the ground before kick-off with plenty of speculation as to who he came to watch.

When pressed by El Mundo Deportivo, Villas-Boas said he had been most impressed with Adama Traore a Spanish winger of Malian descent who is rated as one of the hottest prospects in Barcelona’s famed La Masia Academy.

With Aaron Lennon returning from injury, Andros Townsend’s awesome display for England on Friday night and the likes of Erik Lamela, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Nacer Chadli all available to the Spurs boss, it would be a huge surprise where he to bring in another winger this season.

El Mundo Deportivo also asked AVB about Gareth Bale’s injury problems, to which he said: “I cannot talk about Bale, as he is not my player.”

On the La Liga title race, AVB added: “Barcelona is very strong. Real Marid is still there but we mustn’t forget Atletico Madrid, who are strong and very motivated.”

Finally, they questioned the Portuguese coach on being linked with Real Madrid after Jose Mourinho’s departure to which he said: “I am very focussed on Tottenham.”
