It was a huge weekend in the Peruvian top flight as Sporting Cristal beat Real Garcilaso 5-2 to leapfrog the victors over their losers and into first first in the league with a one point buffer.
Striker Irven Ávila grabbed the plaudits with a hat-trick for Sporting, however it was the contribution of 33-year-old Chiroque which garnered the most attention.
With 20 minutes to go and Cristal leading 3-2, the hosts sprung a lightening counter attack from a Garcilaso free-kick which culminated with Chiroque jinking past two defenders and the keeper before his fired a bullet in the top corner.
Soon after Chiroque tormented his opponents again to win a penalty, as the nippy veteran ran a ring, literally, around Rolando Bogado before he fell in the box. Ávila slammed in the spot-kick.
