Southampton v West Ham: Predicted XIs & Premier League preview

Two of the most in-form teams in the Premier League face-off in the late match on Saturday.

Southampton are currently enjoying a purple patch this season which has (not so coincidentally) coincided with the return of Fraser Forster between the sticks.

Having struggled with keeping clean sheets in the first half of the season, the Saints now have four on the spin, including most recently during a 0-0 draw at Arsenal.

But Southampton are still a work in progress.

Graziano Pelle has been missing in recent games (he returned against the Gunners), while Shane Long and Sadio Mane has struggled to find the target with any regularity.

The club have also signed Charlie Austin, who is in line for his home debut against the Hammers. Steven Davis could also return to action for the match.

As for the Irons, they beat Aston Villa in midweek as they hold onto sixth place in the table.

Moreover, they’ve been buoyed by the return of Andy Carroll after a hamstring problem, while Emmanuel Emineke could make his debut.

Angelo Ogbonna and Sam Byram also also expected to play against the Saints after missing the Villa match.

Interestingly, the Saints have won just one of the last eight league games with West Ham.

Southampton possible XI: Forster, Cedric, Fonte, Van Dijk, Bertrand, Ward-Prowse, Classie, Wanyama, Tadic, Pelle, Mane.

West Ham possible XI: Adrian, Tomkins, Ogbonna, Collins, Cresswell, Kouyate, Song, Noble, Antonio, Valencia, Payet.
