Should John Terry have been sent off for his horror tackle on James Milner (Aston Villa-Chelsea)?

“I don’t know whether you have seen John Terry’s challenge,it was an awful tackle on an England colleague and James Milner is very lucky his career is still intact.” – Martin O’Neill.

Aston Villa feel hard done by this morning and John Terry is again the subject of widespread vilification.

At least a fairly bland FA Cup semi-final produced some talking points.

Fresh from the non sending off of Nemanja Vidic in the Carling Cup final, a red-faced Martin O’Neill vented his frustration at Howard Webb yesterday after “the best ref in England” failed to spot a disgraceful assault by John Terry on James Milner with the score at 1-0, in a game Chelsea eventually won 3-0.

How Terry only received a yellow card remains a mystery to many as his “tackle” was way too high and with “excessive force.”

The ITV director quickly panned over to Fabio Capello who will no doubt have been worrying about the fitness of the Aston Villa midfielder.

Somehow Milner was able to continue and Don Fabio was left to ponder how the Three Lions will fare if Terry produces a similar assault at the World Cup in South Africa.

John Terry’s horror challenge on James Milner can be seen on this video.
