One of the hottest properties in German football, Leroy Sane is the subject of interest of the biggest clubs on the continent. The Schalke star is focused on his football at the minute but one club could turn his head.
In fact, they already have. We’re talking about champions of the world, FC Barcelona.
The 20-year-old was speaking to Bild about his future and insisted that for the time being he’s a Schalke player, his media training coming in handy. Then he veered away from the fixed list of answers to questions about transfers by stating that he wasn’t thinking of settling down in Gelsenkirchen.
He said: “I think next season I will play at Schalke. However, I make no secret. Sometime in the future I want to play abroad at an even bigger club than Schalke. Most of all at Barca – even as a little boy that was my dream club.” Those inner children are always meddling with transfer matters.
Where would he fit in at Barcelona? Perhaps that’s the immediate concern stopping Sane from switching to Spain at the minute. Maybe he’s biding his time until a clear opening in the starting line-up becomes available.
