Ross Barkley may not be the best when it comes to talking, but he has no problem with his feet in the biggest football arenas in England.
After celebrating just his 20th birthday last week, Everton’s playmaker was outstanding against Arsenal last weekend in the Premier League.
Playing with a maturity greater than his years, Barkley took on the mantle of creating chances for the Toffees by popping up between the lines of the Gunners midfield and defence, and his constant movement caused Arsenal headaches all game long.
Barkley’s go-to moment came when the young Englishman, after quarter-backing the play near the right touchline, took out Santi Cazorla and Mesut Özil with one fabulous turn.
Barkley had two major goal-threatening moments at the Emirates. His clever backheel released Steven Pienaar for a long-range effort before his powerful shot forced Wojciech Szczesny into a fine save.
Yet, while plenty of hype and expectation is now being heaped on the young Evertonian, it’s worth remembering that Barkley has yet to register a Premier League assist this season. He does have two goals in 14 games though.
