For the FIRST time in World Cup history all the Champions of the Group go on to the Quarters of the tournament

Don’t say it too loudly but the pace had slowed down in the World Cup dramatically – this was the sixth consecutive game which ended goalless at half-time.
But Belgium and the USA teamed up to ensure that we witnessed a cracker.
Belgium huffed and puffed in normal time and the wolf named Lukaku blew the house down with his introduction from the bench.
Credit to USA though, they have been a credit to themselves at this World Cup and will be sorely missed. Here’s the reaction to the game in tweets.

Another brilliant game. Every team in knockouts could've gone through. What a tournament.

FT: Belgium 2:1 USA. Unforgettable game ends with the US being eliminated in the Round of 16 again. Deserved victory for Belgium. GKs huge.

Congratulations Belgium! A country with a population of 11m has produced an exceptional group of players.

Well done Belgium, deserved it … just. USA were so resilient. Could have watched another 2 hours of that game.

Fantastic fight from USA and Tim Howard in particular. But Belgium battered them and deserved to win. Lukaku an absolute monster. Great game

FT Belgium 2-1 USA – another top game, Lukaku the game changer but USA played their part to the full, shame it had to end
