Roberto Soldado cannot play in England!
Supporters of Tottenham will know full well that the Spaniard struggles when playing in English stadiums.
Soldado simply could not adapt to English football during his time at White Hart Lane, turning from a prolific striker at Valencia to a shadow of himself at Spurs.
In fact, Soldado’s struggles in England changed his game. The Spanish striker was a pure number 9 at Valencia, now at Villarreal he is bagging assists on a regular basis and is very much a provider, particularly for Cedric Bakambu.
On Thursday night, Soldado’s new found style of play found himself in the right back position and the Villarreal forward was seriously embarrassed by a stunning roulette from Roberto Firmino.
In truth, experienced defenders would have struggled with Firmino in this position, but Soldado was absolutely destroyed by a stunning piece of skill.
The skill did not end up in a goal but arguably summed up a night when Liverpool played some stunning football that Villarreal just could not live with.
What a shame Alberto Moreno could not finish off a stunning move!
Literally seconds later Soldado was hauled off for Villarreal, summing up another disappointing night for the former Spurs striker in England.
See the best of how Twitter reacted to Firmino’s stunning roulette on Soldado below. First up, there is video of Firmino’s stunning move on Soldado – available in the UK.
