Roberto Firmino’s super 2016 stats continued in Liverpool’s 2-1 win at Crystal Palace

Liverpool were handed a gift at Selhurst Park on Sunday, and Jurgen Klopp’s men grabbed it with both hands.

After a goalless first half in South London, the Eagles, still without a win in the league in 2016, broke the deadlock through Joe Ledley early in the second period.

Palace looked good value for their lead, and Alan Pardew’s men looked even more secure in the match when James Milner picked up his marching orders for after he picked up two yellow cards.

But then Palace imploded.

Eagles keeper Alex McCarthy slipped as he tried to clear his lines in the 72nd minute, and sub Roberto Firmino capitalised to score.

In the final stages, 10-men Liverpool could have won the match when Alberto Moreno struck the Palace post with McCarthy beaten.

In the end the mach finished with a Liverpool win thanks to Christian Benteke’s late penalty.

Only Sergio Aguero, with nine goals in 2016, has a better scoring record than Firmino in the EPL.
