Riquelme leads Boca to victory over the Old Boys; Goals from the Copa Sudamericana

Ricardo Noir and Lucas Viatri put Boca ahead but Newell’s replied with a penalty from Rolando Schiavi and an opportunist goal from Juan Insaurralde, who pounced on a poor clearance by Gabriel Paletta. Boca wrapped up the points in the final minutes, Nicolas Gaitan poked the ball past Sebastian Peratta in the 88th minute and Viatri wrong-footed the goalkeeper two minutes later.

Defensor Sporting 1 – River Plate 2 (Copa Sudamericana, September 25, 2008) Sebastian Abreu put River ahead in the 8th minute when he reacted first to a loose ball in the area to slot home. In the 64th minute Abreu doubled their lead when he blasted in a rebound. Mario Risso scored a consolation goal for the Uruguayans.

Universidad Catolica 1 – Internacional 1 (Copa Sudamericana, September 25, 2008) A header from Barrientos put Catolica ahead in the 43rd minute, but Alex equalised five minutes from time with a fine solo goal in the fog.
