According to reports out of Italy, Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri could become the next Man United boss, once Louis Van Gaal leaves Old Trafford.
Speculation as to the Dutchman’s successor has been a constant, as Van Gaal—whose current contract with United expires in 2017— has always been insistent that he is not in for the long haul with the Red Devils.
Whilst many expect the 64-year-old to fulfill his commitment of his contract, there are some in Manchester that suggest that the United hierarchy could replace Van Gaal at the end of this season, if they manage to find the right candidate who they feel could leave a lasting legacy at Old Trafford.
Many names have been tipped to be the Dutchman’s heir, with Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, and Ryan Giggs, who is Van Gaal’s assistant at United, all mooted with the position.
But the latest news coming out of Repubblica suggests the Premier League giants are interested in Juve boss Allegri and are considering him as a replacement for the Van Gaal.
The report says that the club like his style of play and courage and are already discussing the possibility of the Italians arrival in Manchester, although the 48-year-old’s contract runs until 2017.
Should he take the reigns at Old Trafford, the United faithful could certainly be encouraged by the Italian’s success at Juventus. Despite somewhat struggling this season, the 48-year-old led Juve to a domestic double last season, as they also reached the Champions League final, in the end losing out to a wonderful Barcelona side.
