Real Madrid are set to complete the signing of Kiko Casilla from Espanyol today, with the keeper due to confirm his departure from Espanyol at a press conference this afternoon.
The Spanish international will sign for 6.5m euro, according to AS, who report the transfer as a done deal, with just the confirmation needed from both clubs.
Following the exit of Iker Casillas last weekend, who signed for Portuguese giants Porto, Madrid are currently left with just one senior goalkeeper in Keylor Navas at the time of writing.
And with the David De Gea deal appearing to be off for this summer, Benitez sees Casilla as the perfect fit to come in and compete with Navas.
The announcement of the deal will effectively kill off the De Gea deal for this summer, as Casilla surely wouldn’t sign unless he was given assurances that De Gea would be staying in Manchester….for now.
