This is becoming a bit of a ritual for Real Madrid. After releasing a promotional video ahead of the second leg against Lyon in the last 16 round of the Champions League, Los Blancos have once again urged their fans to make the difference against Spurs.
After seven seasons of failing to reach this stage of the competition and the shock home defeat to Sporting Gijon on Saturday, this is a compliment towards Tottenham and a real indication of the desire at the Bernabeu to win the premier prize in Europe again.
Ahead of Tuesday’s clash Real Madrid have posted a video on their website featuring Jose Mourinho, Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa and Ricardo Carvalho saying they “dream of a Bernabeu that drives us to victory.”
Mourinho and all three players spent considerable time in England and much is made of the fact that “English stadiums are tight round an opponent… but we also speak of the magical nights at the Bernabeu.”
It is a far cry from Jose Mourinho’s latest comments on the clash with Harry Redknapp and Spurs where he says “A 0-0 at home in the first game is good in the Champions League.”
Despite this advert, it is questionable how much the Real Madrid fans have embraced this tie, there are still just over 2,000 tickets left for the visit of Tottenham
