Real Madrid and Inter Milan have agreed a deal for Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic according to Sky Italia.
The 21-year-old was one of the stand out players in Serie A last season and despite recent reports linking the midfielder with a move to Premier League side Liverpool, it is the Santiago Bernabeu which looks to be the players’ next destination.
Newly appointed Real Madrid boss Rafa Benitez recently spoke of his desire to add a midfielder to his squad this summer, and it looks as though the Spaniard has done exactly that, as reports suggest that Mateo Kovacic will sign a five-year deal with Los Blancos for a reported €35million.
It has been quite a frustrating summer in the Spanish capital as Real Madrid have seen their attempts to sign Manchester Untied goalkeeper David De Gea drag on longer then they would have expected. The 24-year-old has not yet featured for Louis Van Gaal’s side in the Premier League this season and many expect David De Gea to eventually complete his move to Real Madrid before the end of the transfer window.
The Spanish giants are also understood to be in the market for a new striker which will only heighten speculation regarding the future of Frenchman Karim Benzema who has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks.
