A curious scene played out prior to Real Madrid’s Champions League match with PSG on Tuesday evening at the Bernabeu.
As the Real Madrid squad emerged from their team bus, there waiting was president Florentino Perez.
After shaking hands with some of the players, Perez stopped Ronaldo and asked him about a recent interview published by German magazine Kicker.
According to Kicker, Ronaldo admitted he was unsure about his long term future at Real Madrid – saying: “You have to do whatever makes you happy.”
Ronaldo added: “Right now, I play for Real Madrid, but you never know. You have to do whatever makes you happy. You never know what happens tomorrow. I can only say that I will always give it my all for my club and my country.”
Considering that PSG were the opponents and are considered as Ronaldo’s next club, the fact Perez stopped and asked Ronaldo in public about his future plans is quite telling.
Ronaldo looked pretty stunned and denied any wrongdoing, simply saying: “yo no he dicho eso” – “I did not say that.”
