Real Madrid edge Barca to win under-18 Club World Championship (video)

The senior squad may have had all the glory in the season just ended, but Real Madrid managed to get one over on Barca in the battle of the babes at the weekend, as the Los Blancos under-18s toppled their fierce rivals to claim the Club World Championship in the fifth year of the competition’s existence.

The Catalans took the lead after Sergio Roberto’s low drive slipped through the Real keeper’s hands to nestle in the bottom corner early on. But, after Real had several good attempts on target without pulling level, the Merengues equalised before the break through a superb solo run and finish from Carvajal after 35 minutes.

And it was to get better for Madrid before the interval, as just before the break Real struck again. The ball was fed into striker Pablos Sarabia in the box and, despite being outnumbered 4-1 by surrounding Barca defenders, the quick-footed Sarabia managed to work his way towards goal in the inside right channel before producing a top-draw finish to find the far corner from a narrow angle.
