Rayo Vallecano help relocate & pay lifetime rent an 85-year-old grandma who was made homeless

An 85-year-old grandma in Spain, Doña Carmen, has found herself a human interest story after she was made homeless by police in Madrid.

Carmen Martínez Ayudo was turfed out of her home after her son defaulted on a loan of €40,000 loan which he took out on her house.

After being put out on the streets Doña Carmen’s story went viral, and her local club Rayo Vallecano have since stepped into the breach to give the story a happy ending.

Rayo came to Carmen’s rescue, finding her new accommodation and committing themselves to pay her rent for as long as she is alive.

Paco Jémez, the coach at Rayo, told reporters:

We’re not going to stand around and do nothing, we’re going to help this woma. Not just me but the technical team and the players. We’ll give her a hand to find a place where she can live in dignity and not feel abandoned.

Doña Carmen has since been pictured wearing a Rayo Vallecano shirt as her story continues to go viral.
