On Saturday in the Championship, Preston slumped to a 2-1 home defeat to Derby.
Now, while losing is never easy to swallow for the most passionate of supporters, the Preston mascot let his emotions run a little too high when he began trying to distract Derby keeper Stephen Bywater during the contest.
Causing a flap, it was left for a match steward to escort the Deepdale Duck off the pitch in an embarrassing episode for all.
The footage can be seen here.
In a brilliant twist, the fallout from the treatment of Deepdale Duck continued in bizarre fashion on Monday.
In a case of mascot solidarity, Sheffield United’s pirate Captain Blade decided to raise awareness for his Preston colleague during his side’s match with Doncaster. Accordingly, during the halftime interval Captain Blade held a one-man sit-down protest in the centre-circle holding a sign reading “Free the Preston one.”
