Atletico Madrid are a club in crisis. Third bottom of La Liga having shipped a table-topping 13 goals already this season, the Rojiblancos are without a win in six matches, and on Wednesday night they face the daunting trip to Porto’s Estadio do Dragao. In a corresponding fixture just six months ago the sides shared a goalless draw as Porto knocked out Atleti on the away goals rule, but a more straightforward home win is expected this time round.

Changing tracks somewhat, Wednesday night in the Championship sees the high-flying Magpies entertain Crashgate United, aka Flavio Briatore’s QPR, with both sides full of confidence having scored four and five goals respectively in their last round of matches. Yet, with fellow promotion hopefuls Middlesbrough and West Brom both losing on Tuesday, Newcastle will know that a win over the Londoners will open up a five point lead at the top of the table for the Toon.

Backing both Porto (10/11) and Newcastle (6/4) to win, we hope to turn a £3 stake into a £9.55 return.

Thursday night sees the bastard child of European football, the Europa League, roll into town once more and the omens look good for a Dutch double over Romania.

PSV are currently one of the hottest teams in the world. Unbeaten in there last 25 matches in all competitions, a record stretching back to March 15, 2009, including an incredible 20 wins in the process, it would take a brave man to believe that Romanian outfit CFR Cluj are suddenly going to bring that record to a halt.

But PSV are not the only unbeaten side in this season’s Eredivisie as the rehabilitation of Schteve McClaren continues to produce excellent results at FC Twente. The Englishman currently sits joint top in Holland after recording six wins and two draws in their opening eight matches of the new campaign, and on Thursday they welcome Steaua Bucharest.

Sticking £2 on both PSV (4/7) and Twente (4/6) to win, we hope to scoop a £5.24 return.
