Paulinho out of Liverpool v Spurs with conjunctivitis, Brazilian announces on Twitter

Brazilian midfielder would probably not have been in the Tottenham starting XI at Liverpool today, but would surely have been on the substitutes bench.

Paulinho has had a tough time at White Hart Lane, picking up an injury from Charlie Adam, just when he was finding form and appears to be out of favour with Tim Sherwood at the current time.

Last week against Southampton, Paulinho was an unused substitute, despite the fact Mousa Dembele was hauled off at half-time and in the week voiced his angst at not being a first team regular at Spurs.

The former Corinthians midfielder Tweeted a couple of hours before Tottenham’s clash at Liverpool that he would not be involved due to conjunctivitis.

For what its worth, the Tweets were only in Portuguese and not in English, with Paulinho admitting he has struggled picking up English during his first season in the Premier League.

A full translation of the Tweets above can be seen below:

“Good morning guys! Moving on to say that today I will not be playing, I have conjunctivitis – a big hug to everyone! Have a great game guys ….  Go with God.”
