As come-and-get-me pleas go, Paulo Dybala’s will take some topping.
One of the hottest prospects in Europe, the Palermo striker has attracted the attention of a lot of top European clubs but appears to only have eyes for one: Barcelona.
Goal have published quotes from Dybala during his conversation with Radio Belgrano. When the topic of his future came up, Dybala wasn’t exactly tight-lipped: “Would I be open to a move to Barcelona? I would swim to Barcelona if they came knocking.”
To further emphasise how up for a move to Catalonia he was, Dybala continued: “I wouldn’t even have to change into my swimming gear. After all, I would only have to cross the Mediterranean Sea…”
The 21-year-old is in the midst of a breakthrough season and has been one of the sensations of the Serie A campaign, scoring 12 goals and creating a further seven.
He has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool and both Manchester giants.
Yet none of these destinations hold the same allure as Barca. Being Argentinian, Dybala has said it would be a dream to play with compatriot Lionel Messi.
Palermo are resigned to losing the player in the summer as their relationship with Dybala has broken down. Expect him to be sold for a massive fee in the region of €40 million.
