Palermo make 9th managerial change of the season; Walter Novellino sacked after 4 games

You thought Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino was bad? Think again.

Serie A strugglers Palermo today sacked Walter Novellino after just four games in charge and are set to reinstall formerly sacked manager Davide Ballardini.

The 62-year-old Italian suffered three defeats and madcap owner Maurizio Zamparini decided – for the eight time this season – he had seen enough.

Palermo lie 18th in the Serie A table but stand a good chance of survival despite failing to win a competitive game since January.

Sacked in January 2016, Davide Ballardini lasted less than two months as head coach but is expected to be reunited with his former players tomorrow.

Maurizio Zamparini’s Palermo have made more managerial changes than the entire Premier League so far this season.

The list of managers hired and fired this season reads:

Beppe Iachini (twice)
Davide Ballardini (twice)
Fabio Viviani
Giovanni Bosi
Giovanni Tedesco
Guillermo Barros Schelotto
Walter Novellino
