One Leicester fan is regretting the ‘worst cash out in history’ after betting on Foxes to win the EPL

Is this the most heartbreaking story of the season?

Throughout the season, stories have repeatedly popped up about Leicester City supporters who incredibly backed their team to win the Premier League, when they could still get 5000/1 odds on Claudio Ranieri’s men.

But the Press Association have now reported the story of one supporter who got out of the bet far too early.

Leicester kicked off their 2015-16 campaign with a 4-2 home win over Sunderland at the King Power Stadium.

Jamie Vardy scored once, Riyad Mahrez bagged a brace, while Marc Albrighton scored the fourth on the opening day of the season.

According to the PA, one fan who backed Leicester to win the league with a 50p bet decided to cash out after the win over the Black Cats. He trousered 95p for his efforts.

Of course, as we now know, had the punter stayed around for the long haul, he could have won 2,500 pounds from his throwaway bet.

The bet was placed with Ladbrokes, who have released the following statement:

This will go down as the worst cash out decision in history. Plenty of 5000/1 backers took sums midway through the season when it looked in the balance, but we wonder what our man didn’t like about the 4-2 win on the opening day of the season.

We are offering our customer an all expenses paid day out at a game next season plus another title bet to make amends to soften the blow. With judgement this good, any long term title bets should be left to ride.
