Newcastle and Tottenham have agreed a fee for Andros Townsend ahead of the winger’s transfer, the Guardian report.
Townsend has found himself on the margins at Spurs this season, and in truth never seemed to convince Mauricio Pochettino.
Indeed, the pair fell out earlier in the season over a training ground bust-up with a Spurs fitness coach, and although Townsend was brought in from the cold after serving his punishment, his time at Spurs appeared to over from that point on.
So he’s now set for a relegation battle with Newcastle; but if he can at least play regularly and impress in doing so, he could still be in with an outside chance of making the England squad for Euro 2016.
Lest we forget: Townsend appeared to be on his way to becoming an England regular during qualification for World Cup 2014, but that seems like a long time ago now…
