New details emerge of Man United’s mega Adidas deal [BBC]

Manchester United’s new kit sponsorship with Adidas was hailed as the biggest ever such football deal when announced earlier this month.

On Wednesday, it emerged that Manchester United’s owners, The Glazer family, would raise around $150m by selling more of their shares in the club on the New York Stock Exchange.

The Glazers are selling around 5% of their share holdings and it will bring profit for them with no relevance whatsoever to the playing side of the Manchester United operation.

Alongside this news came a prospectus, that has been seen by some journalists, which shows some details of the Manchester United kit deal with Adidas.

Among the interesting tidbits provided by Mike Keegan of the BBC, the deal can be raised on performance.

But, successive seasons without Champions League football would harm the deal, as would the unthinkable: relegation!
