If Monaco owner Dmitry Rybolovlev gets his way, we could be seeing future Anthony Martials and Thierry Henrys arrive in England to play for Reading, long before they make a big move from Ligue 1 to the Premier League.
L’Equipe report on Sunday that Dmitry Rybolovlev is looking to buy 20% of Championship club Reading.
Rybolovlev, a Russian billionaire, has been the sole owner of Monaco since December 2011 and has brought them up from Ligue 2 and established themselves again as a force in French top flight football.
By taking over a large stake in Reading, Rybolovlev hopes to provide a platform for Monaco in England, where they can send young players out on loan.
In France, there are rules limiting how many players can be loaned from one club, by making this kind of agreement with a foreign team, they would be able to bring in many more young players.
Monaco already have this kind of agreement in place, with the likes of Vitoria Guimaraes, Braga and Zulte-Waregem.
Reading are currently 12th in the Championship and in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. They are 14 points off the relegation zone and 12 away from the play-offs.
