Central Coast Mariners 2 – Sydney FC 3 (A-League, August 23, 2008) (Longer highlights here.) In a ding-dong battle, Sydney captain Steve Corica opened the scoring in the sixth minute but the Mariners were level six minutes later when a foul by Rob Middleby provided Petrovski with a chance from the penalty spot. Corica then bagged his second to give the visitors the lead at the break. Petrovski looked to have salvaged a point for Central Coast when he bagged his second goal in the 68th minute but Shannon Cole’s free-kick nine minutes from time sent Sydney top of the table.
