Pep Guardiola picked his Barcelona team this weekend at Mallorca with one eye on the Emirates. The mouthwatering Champions League tie with Arsenal later this week saw the Catalans hand starts to the likes of Jeffren and Pedro as the more experienced stars, such as Xavi and Leo Messi, began the evening on the Barca bench.
Five minutes after the interval, and with the match still goalless, Leo Messi came on for Andres Iniesta. Four minutes later the diminutive Argentine was clattered into by Sanchez, but that failed to upset the world footballer of the year who quickly found his feet on the right hand channel of the Barca midfield.
Yet, while Messi made a difference after his introduction, LM10 missed a couple of great chances to get his name on the scoresheet and by his high standards, his performance was below-par.

Barcelona’s victory was matched by Real on Sunday night, as Los Blancos edged city rivals Atletico 3-2 in the Madrid derby.
Much like Messi the night before, Cristiano Ronaldo showed some neat touches and passes against the Rojiblancos, however, without finding the net the Portuguese forward’s night seemed somewhat lacking.
