Manchester United are ready to break their transfer record to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, according to transfer market specilaists Tuttomercatoweb.
The Italian site claims that United are ready to bid £80m for the prodigal son, who left for Real Madrid back in 2009, after 6 seasons at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo has cut a frustrated figure at the Bernabeu since the turn of the year, and the rumours about a return to United have persisted throughout the season; indeed ever since he left United, many have felt that he would one day return to the club where he made his name.
In recent weeks things have reached boiling point, with the Madrid fans even booing their top goalscorer, which appeared to leave Ronaldo rather disillusioned with the whole situation.
Tuttomercato claim Van Gaal, Ed Woodward et al are ready and willing to pay Ronaldo 14 million pounds a year in order to lure him back to Manchester and build a team around the 2015 Ballon D’Or.
Both Ronaldo and his agent Jorge Mendes have always insisted that he’s happy at Madrid and has no desire to leave, but regardless, the noises about him coming ‘home’ to United just won’t go away.
