Over the weekend it was widely reported that Manchester United have shown interest in Barcelona’s Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr.
On Monday, Brazilian newspaper Globo Esporte reported an incredible £140m bid from Manchester United for the 23-year-old forward.
Usually pretty reliable, Globo earlier this summer broke the story linking Liverpool to Roberto Firmino and this report regarding Neymar should not simply be laughed off.
Manchester United missed out on Pedro Rodriguez to Chelsea but The Guardian yesterday claimed Ed Woodward actually travelled to Spain to negotiate a deal for Neymar.
It is unclear how much Barcelona paid for the 23-year-old Brazilian in 2013 but Manchester United would definitely need to break the bank to sign the skilful youngster.
The £140m bid, which would reportedly activate Neymar’s release clause, would smash the current £85m transfer record set by Real Madrid for Gareth Bale.
Neymar is reportedly happy at Barcelona but the Guardian claimed the superstar would be interested in a move to Old Trafford.
