“Have I seen a better debut? No. Absolutely unbelievable. Just a little bit disappointed because I thought he might have got five but he came off with 20 minutes to go. There was an opportunity to score five goals and make a record there – it might still be a record, four goals on your debut.” – Terry McDermott.
Manchester United striker Jesse Lingard had a magical debut for Birmingham on Saturday in the Championship.
The Blues beat Sheffield Wednesday 4-1 at St Andrews, and Red Devil Lingard was the home hero with all four goals, including a 14-minute hat-trick.
Lingard opening the scoring after 19 minutes when he tapped home from a Chris Burke shot, and the 20-year-old Man United forward doubled his tally nine minutes later with he latched onto Wade Elliott’s pass.
Lingard completed his hat-trick when he cut in from the left and drilled a shot past Chris Kirkland.
After the break Lingard added a fourth when Burke pulled the ball back to the United youngster who slammed home from 12 yards.
