New Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal got rid of a number of fringe players this summer, some of which are thriving in their new envioronment.
The Dutch manager sold academy graduate and fans favourite Danny Welbeck to Arsenal for £16m, and sold another fans favourite Shinji Kagawa back to Borussia Dortmund for only £6m.
Both players featured heavily in the Champions League this week, with Danny Welbeck bagging his first ever professional hat-trick in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Galatasaray and Shinji Kagawa starring in Dortmund’s win at Anderlecht.
With Manchester United not even in the Champions League, it may be painful to see two of their former stars featuring in the official Champions League Team of the Week.
Francesco Totti and David Luiz also made it into the XI.
