UEFA.com's weekly wonderkid: Renato Sanches

These days football fans don’t just consume transfer stories linking clubs with random players.

A modern feature of the current transfer windows is the monitoring of scouts around Europe.

Most top European games have a group of scouts in attendance, and it seems that Benfica are attracting quite a crowd these days.

According to reports, Manchester United have sent scouts to Benfica’s last three games in the past two weeks. That’s intense.

So who might Man United be looking at?

According to the well versed Jan Hagen, his punt is 18-year-old midfielder Renato Sanches.

It’s been a breakout year for Sanches, as the teenager has gone from playing for Benfica B side and the featuring in the UEFA Youth League, to him holding down a regular slot with the first team, debuting in the UEFA Champions League, and scoring his first senior goal.

Video evidence of Renato Sanches in action is below.
