Man United offer Cesc Fabregas higher wages than Chelsea, Blues still favourites for Barca star [Tancredi Palmeri]

Italian journalist Tancredi Palmeri, who often is accredited as being not very reliable, seems positive on Monday that Manchester United have made a late move to try and buy Cesc Fabregas.

28-year-old Cesc has been deemed surplus to requirements at Barcelona, and after weeks of chatter in the papers, it seems a lock that Chelsea will by the former Arsenal captain for around 33 million euros.

Yet with Cesc still not signed on the dotted line for Jose Mourinho, Tancredi Palmeri, who is a beIN Sports correspondent, and CNN and Gazzetta dello Sport contributor, is now claiming that Man United have made a late move to hijack the deal.

The story being touted is that United are offering Cesc a higher pay package than Chelsea.

Whether wages will be enough to sway Fabregas from dropping out of the Champions League next season seems doubtful, particularly as Chelsea are thought to have close a deal with Barcelona themselves. Manchester united are yet to cross that bridge.
