Liverpool host Villarreal at Anfield tonight, knowing they have to overturn a one-goal deficit if they’re to reach the Europa League final.
The Reds went out to Spain in search of a 0-0 draw last week, but were sucker-punched by Adrian Lopez right at the end, as Villarreal claimed a slim aggregate lead to take into the 2nd leg.
And slim is what it is; as Jurgen Klopp was at pains to remind them: it’s only half-time in the tie.
The big talking point ahead of tonight’s game was whether Klopp would pick Daniel Sturridge to lead the line, having left him out for the entirety of last week’s 1st leg.
And Klopp has answered the fans’ wishes, by naming Sturridge up front, meaning he’ll be flanked by Coutinho and Firmino.
Having failed to score in the first leg, Liverpool need goals, and Sturridge looks like their best outlet to that end.
