The Star on Sunday’s sport section write that Liverpool are looking to acquire the services of Barcelona’s Chilean attacker Alexis Sanchez in a bid to strengthen their squad for next season’s Champions League campaign.
Sanchez, who scored a thunderous effort in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid, has struggled to settle at Barcelona and has often been a scapegoat for fans in his time at the club.
Last season was a particularly desperate one for the Chilean, with his confidence taking a knock and it showing in his performances and erratic form.
This season, however, he’s looked a lot more like the player Barcelona paid Udinese close to £22 million for in 2011, scoring 21 goals, almost double the previous year’s tally. Liverpool hope to test Barcelona’s resolve with an £18 million bid.
